Happy Easter yall. I actually have no idea when it is, but they are selling easter eggs here now so I'm sure it's soon...
We've been working a lot with the investigators that we have now but as is common in missionary work, the people don't want to act too much on the things we teach them. They like to be comfortable. We have people that want to be baptized but aren't willing to put in the work to do it. So obviously it's FRUSTRATING. I'm not sure what more we can do. Just be patient and persistent I guess.
But our district is really cool. We are 8 missionaries so like a ton of missionaries but they are ALL super great. The new hermana from Paraguay is real cool too. Today we ate lunch all together with a member family.
Tell Stephen, happy birthday for me. I forgot to tell him last week! But I thought about him!
I'm SUPER beyond excited for conference this weekend. It's looking like a good line up. Starting off with my boy Russell Nelson. I'm gonna go in looking for answers and I'm for sure going to come out edified. How great is it that we have church leaders to help us find direction in our lives. And not just personally but also as a church family too. It's what we need personally and as a human kind. It's gonna be a good time. I'm sad it's my last conference as a missionary. But the next conference I'll be back at home and spending it with the fam and with friends. Maybe even IN the conference center ;p Ojala.
Shout out to the ASB fam. I had a dream where I came home and I went to see all of them.
I've been having more dreams about home because they gave us something called "trunky papers" this week for the people going home within the next three months. It's stuff we have to have in mind for when we go home. It was STRANGE because the whole mission I saw the older missionaries getting them but now it's MY turn. So crazy + weird. It's made me think quite a bit about my personal ministry in the mission. How I've changed and grown and the good and the bad that's happened. For sure I'm grateful for the experience and as of right now it's been worth all the trouble and time. I've got about a transfer and a half left, a little more than 2 months.
These last few months are gonna fly but I'm gonna try and do as much as I can to make it memorable and fun and worthwhile and try to help lots of people.
Any suggestions?
I bet if you start sending me letters now, I might get them for my birthday in a month or so. Just a little reminder ;))
Also one of our investigators Juan was in the hospital sick and started to talk to the guy next to him, and we had given Juan a Book of Mormon to read in his free time and Juan started to talk to the other guy about The Book of Mormon and the other guy started to read it and said that the stuff in it was true hahah. You know it's a good investigator when he starts preaching the gospel too.
But that's about it for right now, miss you all lots, and I hope you are all good. I'll be seeing you soon.
Colin
PS I don't have photos this week because my camera wasn't charged and I lent my charger to another missionary. But I'll send more next week!
I made homemade ice cream bars and they taste so good but they didn't turn out at all. Like for nothing. They melted and everything but it was a good time.
Also this week I talked in english to a guy from Israel so that was neat.
------
Making homemade ice cream bars. They turned out quite ugly but were VERY delicious. The process was easy at first but quickly turned rough. I think I made them wrong. But they were very good. And probably terrible for one's health. But worth the experience.
