The Good Shepherd (March 19)

Ok so we just got done with week 1 of my last 12 weeks. Pretty crazy how fast it's going.

My new zone leader is Elder Tavares who was also my zone leader in Comodoro so I'm excited because he's real cool and wants me to visit him in Curitiba.

Turns out that actually both Elder Escobar and I are district leaders (the first companionship of district leaders in the mission and Presidente says it's a test run to see if it works well) so I suppose I'm a leader again!! And our district is now 8 missionaries. We have 3 gringos, 1 Brasilian, 1 Guatemalan, 1 Mexican, 1 Paraguayo, and 1 Argentine. It's a pretty good mix I guess.

This week was a bit cold and with lots of wind which like I complained earlier, it's terrible to ride bikes in. It's just the worst. We can be going downhill but it feels like we are going uphill. It's a constant effort and struggle. My legs are soooo tired. Also this week I got bit by a dog. We were going to a barrio where we have 3 new investigators with baptismal dates but it also happens to be a barrio where there are like 15 dogs on every corner so it's a physical representation of "opposition in all things" because we HAVE to go there to teach our investigators but the dogs don't make it super fun. It also is like 15 minutes away on bike and we usually go 2 times a day there because we have one investigator that's there only between 2 and 4 and one that's only available after 6. So we are always coming and going.

This week we were cruising down the path and we found 2 little puppies so OF COURSE we stopped to hang out for a little with them and Elder Escobar snagged a good Photo of me with the puppies and the folleto of the restauration [pamphlet of the Restoration]. I thought of the scripture "y otros perritos tengo, que no son de este redil. aquellos también debo yo traer. y oirán mi voz y habrá un rebano y un pastor"  [John 10:16 16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.] And it made me think about how really the message of the Restoration really is a message of love. I wanted to hold the puppies forever and I'm sure it's like that with our Heavenly Father. So that's why he gave us his gospel and families and sent prophets to tell  us about the gospel and even sent his only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for us to make it possible to live with Him. And then thanks to modern day prophets we have the gospel again to help us to obtain happiness and peace in the this life and eternal life in the next life. What a good message of hope and love. That's what it's all about.

I'm definitely getting adjusted to the missionary life now and i kinda know what I'm doing. It's good but I think it's a little late hahaha

But for now I'm hanging in there.

I sent some things home with Hermano Rivadeneira who's going on vacay to California and Utah. He said he'll be in California in April but I also gave him your contact information, Mom. I hope you like these Argentines just as much as the Rebolledos. They are pretty great. And also I talked to a missionary from Bolivia who's going to the US so maybe she'll stay with you guys too. I hope.

ps also Elder Gonzalez finished his mission so it's weird to have more comps at home now. I'm next and then all my other comps are still going to be in the mission for a while. Pretty crazy.
