Ok so for the most important information first: we received transfers. And.... it was 50% chance I was leaving because we both got here at the same time but actually because it's Elder Salinas's first area I was almost 85% sure I was leaving but SURPRISE! (like always on transfers) I'm staying! For a fourth transfer!! I'm actually super stoked! I love Abasolo. And my new comp is Elder Pacahuala from Peru! My first Peruvian comp! He got here with Salinas so I actually met him once. And was able to talk to him. He seems pretty solid and normal. I guess we'll see. But I'm excited!!
This week I was in and out of the hospital with Salinas again. We had to go to physical therapy and get him massages and stuff... I spent SO much money on bus fare. But this week I was able to read most of "Our Heritage" and it's SO good. It's so much better than "Our Search for Happiness." I'm learning sooo much and the early day pioneers and leaders were STUDS!!! But for real though. I can't even imagine it. I bet Rachel knows like all the church history. I love learning about it. A lot more than I originally thought I would. 10/10 would recommend.
This week we had a capilla abierta (open church) and Elder Salinas and I were in charge of explaining baptism so we dressed up in white and explained it to like the 5 people that went. It was a good time though!
Yesterday was the super clasico so it was crazy! We went to some members so Elder Salinas could say goodbye and saw part of it. The members here are soo great! They were all crying and gave us cake and invited us to their houses to say good bye!
I think that's about it for now but I let you guys know what happens!! On Halloween we didn't do anything btw. It's not a thing here. I actually kinda forgot about it..
But it's been cool to read about the early church. How it was restored by the help of modern day prophets, angels, and many many miracles. The more I learn about Joseph Smith and his life the more it's obvious that he was meant to be the first prophet of the last dispensation. Even though the members lived in hard trials and even rebelled against their leaders and had much persecution, the church is true. And no unhallowed hand can stop the work until Jesus Christ comes again. How great is that!!!
And like Elder Ballard says, the restoration isn't just an event, it's continuing to unfold today. Jesus lives. And he leads the church. He speaks to his prophets and chosen leaders to guide us. It doesn't make life easier but it makes it better. And our ability to support trials will become stronger.
See yall soon! Muchas bendiciones chicos
chau po
Elder Ross
