Bikes, Bragg, and Beaches

Today marks my last 6 months so I'm now in my "senior year" of the mish. But for me senior year was just too good so I'm looking forward to the last leg of the race. Let's just hope I don't figuratively fail English again. I won't let that happen. And this time I'll try and make it to my graduation.

Ok so so many different things happened this week I don't even know where to start!

I guess with the bikes. So this week we got the bikes... they are sooo sickkk I'm honestly sooo happy. It's like a little kid on Christmas. I can't ride the bikes and not have the biggest smile on my face. It's the BEST! I love it. (Still haven't taken fotos.) But they are beach cruisers and there are lots of hills here so it's kinda really rough, getting fat leg muscles!!!

This week I had 3 great experiences.

1. We needed to cut our hair for the conference with Elder Bragg and so we were in centro looking for places but we didn't have a lot of time and all the places were closed or busy. (Perks of South America. There are a ton of peluquerias) So we found one that's literally like a night club. BUT the guy that works there is very obviously gay and dresses like a girl. It was the only place open and without much of a wait. Elder Pacahuala had his doubts and I was trying to convince him to get in. After like 3 minutes talking outside the guy literally comes out and asks if we are gonna go in. Elder Pacahuala humbles himself and we go in. And let me tell. BEST HAIRCUT experience OF ALL TIME**.(**while on the mission, and the exception of Elder Teixeira's haircut). I never doubted. But Paca did. Anyways he turned out to be super cool. And he used to be an investigator but didn't feel comfortable in the church. And it was just a good cool time atmosphere. And it was definitely a success because Elder Paca after apologized to the guy for judging too soon and they turned out being friends and Elder Paca learned his lesson. We got a new friend. And the guy paid for our ride home in taxi. The next day we went by and shared with him #iluminaelmundo (#lighttheworld)... I was really proud of Paca.

2. On Saturday there was an open chapel in another ward so we invited our investigators Lucia and Ana there. We had brought a member to their house to take them and everything was planned super well. EXCEPT when we get there, Ana says "You know, I don't want to keep talking to you guys. I have my own church." And we were just devastated. As you can imagine. And Lucia was like "No I'm just confused on what to believe". And this was one of those MOST pivotal moments that any missionary can relate to. everything has to be calculated with 1000% spirit, love, patience, and convincing skills. So we invited the member in and he talked to them. It was risky. But after like 30 minutes they accepted and went with us to the open house. And it turned out to be one of my favorite experiences of the mission. It was just a solid atmosphere with great feelings and a good time. Lucia and Evelyn went and had so many good questions with all the answers available and we even started Family Search and Evelyn even said "I know this church is true because it makes super sense. With the prophets and The Book of Mormon."

But there's opposition in all things, right? Because right after we were walking home and some guy spit on me so that was real upsetting. Just a mixture of sadness and anger.

3. So as you know we had the big conference with Elder Bragg yesterday and he chose 3 people to interview and he chose me!!! It felt cool to be chosen but the interview itself was pretty average. Here's literally how it went.

"Hey, where are you from?"

"Glendora, California."

"Oh I'm from LA! Glendora is a lovely place! Is your stake president Brother Lemmon? He's a great man.

So do you have any spiritual experiences on the mission?"

I explained the story about Lucia and Evelyn.

And then he told me that in these last 6 months I need to talk with everyone and take advantage that now I know Spanish fairly well and know more or less what I'm doing.

And that was it. He said he was proud of me and loves me and we are on the same team.

Then we took a picture and he's gonna send it to Brother Lemmon.

The conference was pretty cool because we combined all the north and I got to see some of my old friends. But actually there was a ton of people that I've never seen before. I didn't even take pics with Elder Ekblad or Crawford. But it was good to see them. The second time I've seen Ekblad.

Today we went to Subway  for the first time since I've been here and let me tell you. IT'S THE EXACT SAME: smell and everything. It was soo weird to be back. And the sandwiches taste the exact same. It was good. Excellent. Well needed. Elder Spencer and I were pretty excited. Also he got a package with Reeses yesterday and those are soo good.

Today we also went to explore along the shore. The beaches here are pretty nasty. But I love the ocean so it was well enjoyed. And I like the gang. Spencer, Singh and Paka and i.

Anyways I think that's it for this week.
I'll keep yall posted on what happens.
Thanks for all the support. Feel the love from here
See you in 6 months. I guess. It's weird to think that???
