The Comodoro Experiments: Week 2

ABASOLO is SO sick! I'm in love here. So it's definitely NOT Madryn but I love it for different reasons. In Madryn I was in centro with tons of cars and accion and completely flat, but here I'm literally in the hills and afueras de Comodoro. It has a whole other meaning of beautiful. On Tuesday a member took us to the top of the foothills to the north (which remind me a ton of Glendora) and showed us just how big our area is. Picture Lion King movie scene when he says "all of the area where the light shines is your kingdom, and where it's dark, don't go there." That's how it was. And so this week we explored the area a bit more.

So in our area we have like normal neighborhoods, right, but also we have barrios that are like a 30 minute walk outside of our area. It's interesting how that works. It's like little manzanas that are located separate from our area. I'm in love. It's like the country feel where as in all my other areas I was more in the city.

Elder Salinas is super great! He wants to do practices ALL the time. And it's hilarious. He's a work in progress. I DEFINITELY feel more like a missionary now. It's strange. Extraño. And he ALWAYS talks about Paraguay and it just seems SO different and poor. Every time I found out more I just laugh because I know that Holly lived it [on her mission in Paraguay]. He made me try "terrere" this week but it was just mate with cold water. It was awful. He's a ball of fun though. We've had some really good lessons and every time we come out of a lesson he jumps for joy and gets so giddy and happy. It's the best.

His Spanish isn't so great and he makes lots of mistakes. It makes me worried that I'm going to repeat it and fall into a mess of Spanish.

But I'm becoming  a better missionary I think. I feel more like a missionary. This week I put 2x more baptismal fechas this week than the rest of my mission combined. That's right. I put 4!! Well actually the spirit did everything but I had to act. It's this family we found and they are super humble and willing to listen to us. In fact, they wait until all the family comes home and then we teach like a group of people. It's actually intimidating because they just listen to us. But they're going through a hard time right now and it feels really good to help them through it. Their sons got framed for murder and are in jail. For the past 5 months. And they've had allanamientos and everything. (I now know what that word means because I was a part of one) and so we've applied the gospel to their lives. They recently moved from Rosario too. Every lesson is like being part of CSI Comodoro.

I think this week I'll finally see Elder Ekblad and I'm stoked!!! Literally a year later.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (I read the article in the general conference talk about it) and it's super good. I shared it with the family.

¶ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

TUDO BEM,
ELDER ROSS
