The Comodoro Experiments: Week 1

Tudo bem aqui nas ruas de Comodoro

Ok so the biggest news first. I arrived here in Comodoro on Monday night and we got our comps Thursday so it's been an interesting few days.

My comp is ELDER SALINAS de Paraguay jajajaj. He's teaching me Guarani. And he told me he speaks more Portuguese and Guarani at home than Spanish. He's hilarious. Such a good kid. Tries real hard. He is bursting with excitement for this work. Two days before he entered the MTC he was able to baptize his mom. And this week his sister got baptized. He's been a member 3 years now. His accent is THiCC. And he uses Spanish words that I know what they mean but they aren't used here so much so it's like a constant vocab test to see if I remember my high school Spanish 2.

He's great though. As of right now it's good. But the area and the pension could be better. Actually Abasolo is great. It's my first area with hills though. And its definitely not Puerto Madryn. Although we are up in the mountains so I get a nice view of the ocean in some parts still. But the area is HUGE. It used to be two areas but now it's just us. And we live on the border. I'm not lying though it's SO BIG, some of the members took us in auto for like 15 minutes and we were still in the middle of it. And that was in auto!!! I mean, you can tell it's ghetto and it's Comodoro and it's obvious that this place got WRECKED by the storm a few months ago but it's my home now.

The pension is fine. It's quite small but it works still. I'm not complaining about the size. But it doesn't have a stove or wardrobes so I'm still in my suitcases.

The members are nice. They are helping us a lot. On Saturday we had a 9 de Julio party and we helped make a gigante guiso for everyone. The soup turned out super good. It was funny though because they made a spicy sauce and they were like "oh it's SUPER spicy! Be careful!" and it was like minus average hot.  But real good though. The other month I was looking for hot cheetos but they don't have any here. I'm sad. Maybe in the next package ;)

Oh speaking of which, I got the package!!! Perks of living in Comodoro. I got my package early. Love the articles Mom and the granola bars are saving me haha. Super great Mom. Love you. You're the best.

Also this week I stayed in a hotel for 2 nights so that was a living fancy surprise. And I got to re meet some missionaries in my group! I say re meet because it's been a year since I've last seen them. I'm still missing Elder Ekblad and one or two others. But I also got to meet some other elders and catch up with others. It was a grand time.

What you can do is look up the street "Los Duraznos". That's the border of my area. And everything to the left of that street is mine.

We are gonna work until our legs fall off. You'll see the results soon!
