Ok so I'm gonna start with the obvious. We had a baptism Saturday. The name is Anibal Arutti. He's like 72 and Elder Kidd and I found him contacting. His fecha (baptismal date) was for last week but Elder Gonzalez and I postponed it because we still had stuff to teach and tbh I didn't think he'd pass the interview. He forgot like everything about Joseph Smith and he said he didn't need to repent because he doesn't sin. Crazy old man. But ya he's super fachero (hard working) and wears tuxes to church. Every lesson he starts with a 20 minute rant about how the kids today are spoiled and badly educated. So that kinda tells you about what kinda person he is.
It was super funny. He comes out of the font and he's like "que raro" ("how odd") like 20 times but then the whole time in the bathroom changing he's like "que lindoso" and "que hermoso" ("how nice" "how beautiful"). He said something like "soy un pibe renovado" and I laughed because that's like some 72 year old in the states coming out the font and saying "I'm a new dude."
Ok so now life with Gonza. It's aight. One time he taught me how to make the perfect mate. Now I'm a pro. Too bad I like terere mas. (Both are types of herbal teas). For district meetings we drink mate now because half of them are Argentines. It's a good time.
So at first I thought Gonza was just really inefficient and that he was only 18 but now I'm thinking that he lacks some basic common sense. Like we just do things way backwards. And not like different good, like different gilaso. Yesterday instead of him getting people to sign the baptism record at church like would be normal, we spent all yesterday afternoon trying to get Anibal, the district leader, and Presidente to sign it. It could've been done in 5 minutes at church but it took 3 hours of walking yesterday. And this is one example but this whole week has been filled with inefficiency and lack of common sense. It's slowly killing me. Like Gonza is super normal and cool and I'm super x100 grateful to have him. I'm learning cool things but slowing dying too.
Earlier this transfer he was cooking something and he left the cupboard open and all his supllies out and in my head I was just like "cmon man we really don't have much. The least you could do is close the drawers after you use them." And then it hit me that I've heard that a million times from the OG dogma herself just months ago.
Then we were getting ready for a zone meeting and he had an hour to get ready which is very do able. Yet somehow we were still late. In my head I was like "Ok a little bit of rush. Cmon hurry is a good thing. Let's go we are gonna be late" and then I realized that I just thought an almost direct quote from angel mother, just months prior.
And yesterday Gonzalez said a joke that really on all levels was not good and almost cringe worthy and in my head I told myself "I'll laugh when it's funny" and that's when I realized "OH. MY. GOSH. I'M MY OWN MOTHER!!!!!!! I'm the Gonzalez to Mom being me. Oh my gosh oh my gosh." What goes around comes around. I am almost literally placed in my mom's shoes. I'm suprised she didn't beat me more. wow. (she never beat him, fyi)
So ya now I've been thinking about qualities that I would want in an eternal companion. Like Gonzalez would be cool as a person but to live with, he's a no go. And how am I supposed to know that before I get married. You can't.
Like last night I was in bed at 10:30 (like a good boy) and he's just reading in his bed until like 11 with the light on. I'm like "BRO, really? You just HAVE to read in your bed right now. I mean we have a desk in the other room for a reason. Now you're keeping me up. I only get 8 hours of sleep and you're taking up that time." Oh man some things just don't make sense. I thought I was pretty patient before but this is on some other level patience.
But all in all things are good with Gonza and in life. I'm happy. I'm chillin. Times going FAST. I mean I'll skype you guys soon! How fast is that!!!!
On Wednesday I was on divisions with Ixcot our new ZL from Guatamala and he's freaking HILARIOUS. He had me dead mulitple occasions. He asked me where I got my haircut and I was like "tu madre" and then we were talking until like 11 something at night. Rebels. And I asked him where he's from in Guatamala and he's like, it's small you probably haven't heard of it. It's called "Mamátu" and I busted up laughing. hahahahahha For comp study he spent like 30 minutes explaining to me Dragon Ball Z. He just said "oohh it's tan copado che" like 100 times.
Also we figured out that Holly has seen people that he's seen. He entered into the CCM just as Holly left. Holly's group left as his came in. So that's cool. At first we thought he probably knew Holly but we figured it out. And no.
That's all I have for this week. It's good.
Also I teared up when I saw the volleyball dog pound picture and read the article. Dreams come true. Don't stop believing. It was the most beautiful thing I've seen. Honestly. I think I'm gonna print it poster size and hang it up in my house. Keep it going.
chau chau chau chau chau for now.
